Trusting His Plan

Ministry is in full swing. There was a lot of training during the first of the year with new faces around the office. New shepherds began teaching at their care points this week. Other new staff members are beginning to understand their roles and in some ways getting into a routine.

Michelle has a new finance team member that started last Monday, so she is also training. She is obtaining additional responsibilities, so there are many new things to learn.

Greg is maintaining daily operations and trying to coach managers on all the things that need to be done.

There have been lots of planning meetings within the first two months of 2019 and this week has been no different. AIM has recently acquired property and big plans are being made for team housing and leadership development training facilities.

The boys are doing great with communicating with us via FaceTime and text, but it is still not like living in the same house. We had an incredible visit with Lane since he flew to Swazi for Christmas, but we were totally unprepared when we had to say bye to him again. (One of us handled it better than the other) We choose to trust His plan and believe that God has us here for a reason. God is working in all of our lives and He will receive glory…even if it is hard right now.

We wanted to share a letter that one of the locals wrote to the boys:

Dear Landon and Lane,

Hello guys. I’m writing this short letter to express myself how you have been touching my heart as you were staying with us in eSwatini. I know you are younger than me but I learned a lot from you. You guys are not selfish with your dad spending a lot of time with other people during the day. We all know every child in this world wants to spend more time with their parents, but we took him to spend more time with us. On that time we were with him, our life has been changed.

As the future separates you from your parents, I’m also feeling the pain of being separated with your loved ones. You are now young men and sometimes you will face some challenges, please know that God is always having the solution. Your dad has helped me to grow in trusting the Lord and I can promise you that he will provide for you. He will be your comforter always.

Please know me and my family, we love you. We will pray for you as you are pursuing your future up there. Although we are feeling sad, but know that we are wishing you a bright future. We will see you when you come back.

Your brother

Even though the letter was not for us, we were encouraged that sometimes God gives us a glimpse of the impact we are making as a family.

We have an amazing upcoming opportunity and are going to spend a week in March in Ecuador with Landon! Adventures In Missions is hosting a parent’s trip for us to spend a few days to serve beside our racer. We are super excited to see Landon, since we have not seen him since the first of September! After the race is over in June, he will be joining us in Swaziland to help with visiting teams for a few weeks.

Here are a few ways you can pray for us:

Pray that God gives our staff boldness and discernment of how to be leaders in their communities.

Pray that God keeps us all focused on His work and we as a family and as a staff seek to bring others closer to Him.

Pray that God continues to provide financially for us to go on the trip to Ecuador through our support account.

Pray that God continues to lead our family along His path. At times, we certainly miss each other and choose to trust His plan.

We are so thankful for you and your support! We would not be here without you and we are humbled to partner with you through this journey. Thanks for joining us!!!
