Torn Between Two Worlds

America and Swaziland seem like two completely different worlds. Sometimes, I feel like I am stuck in between the two. It is hard to determine which one of them is “home” because I live here in Swaziland. However, I am more familiar with America, and most of my friends are there. Making friends has been one of my biggest struggles since we have been here, but God has definitely helped me. At youth group I have met some other teenagers my age. Unfortunately, one of those friends recently graduated and has now moved back to the U.S. to go to college. Once again, I find myself torn between two worlds.

The bottom line is our real home is not in America, Swaziland, or even the world, but with God in Heaven. We are not of this world.

-John 17:16 “They are not of this world, even as I am not of it.”

-John 18:36 “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world’.”

Moving to Swaziland has helped my faith and relationship with God to grow significantly. He has shown me love and peace in some of my darkest moments. The grace of God and everything that He is continues to amaze me daily.

-Psalm 19:1 “The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”

God has a plan for each and every one of us. I am not really sure where I will end up later in life or what I will be doing in the future, but I hope to follow God’s will for my life. I pray that God will show His abundant love through me, and do the same through others. My family and I went and saw the movie War Room a few weeks ago, and it has really inspired me, showed me the power of prayer, and how great the grace of God is. Here are some prayer requests for the ministry and myself.

  • That God will continue to show me what He wants me to do.
  • That we will be able to show God’s love to the care point kids and help them     to strengthen their faith and walk with God.
  • That God will give me courage to tell everyone about Him.
  • To help Lane and I to make more friends.
  • For rain, as the country of Swaziland is in a drought. Let it pour!

Thanks,

Landon

  1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It must be difficult to feel like you live in two places. I am certain that if you keep walking with God that He will give you the desires of your heart. And I also know that He is planting seeds in you that will reap a tremendous harvest from your life. He is writing the book of your life and this chapter is interesting!

  2. Landon, this is so beautifully written! God will reveal to you the plans He has for you. In the meantime, just follow your heart and listen for the Holy Spirit to reveal to you His plans.
