Our first team was AWESOME!!!

Since we arrived in Swaziland, we have been “training” and shadowing with other team leaders. One of our many jobs here is that we host teams that visit from the states. These teams are a vital part of our ministry and the relationships formed through sponsorship of the kids are priceless.

From short-term mission trips to hosting teams in country, we have had the unique opportunity to be a part of mission teams from both perspectives. A short-term mission trip includes numerous interest/informative meetings, planning, fundraising, packing, handling school/kids/work, etc. On the other hand, while teams are preparing in the states, preparations are also being made in country. Lodging, transportation, food, staff members, communications to care points and the community are a few of the tasks being organized. God works on both sides. We love to hear the incredible testimonies of how team members were funded and seemingly “hand-picked” by God to be a part of the team. Prayers are vital to both partners and we are blessed to see how God goes before each of us.

We want to brag on our first team for a minute. This group of eleven from a Colorado church seemed to give 110% as they visited two of our 24 care points. No one person stole the show. They all offered their God given abilities and God did the rest. Isn’t this what we are all supposed to do? Satan feeds us lies telling us that we have no God-given abilities and puts doubt in our minds that we have nothing to offer. The bottom line is God simply wants us to yield to His will and offer ourselves to Him. Seeing God use this group of believers blessed our hearts!

Whether you are a member of a short-term mission trip, a sports team or part of a ministry team, you have abilities that God can use. Sometimes, these opportunities are right around the corner and God is asking for you to be available.

If you are looking for an opportunity to be a part of a short-term mission team to Swaziland, please contact Bethany Thomas at [email protected] or if you would like to partner with our ministry, click on the “support me” tab to the left of this blog. We certainly have witnessed how our support team has made it possible for us to be here in Swaziland. Thank you for being part of our team and for following our journey!
