One month from today, we will take a 15-hour flight to Johannesburg, South Africa and then travel into Swaziland the following day.  We have had the opportunity to meet with several friends and family; however, there are still so many that we will not be able to sit down with face to face. So, we thought we might provide you with answers to frequently asked questions.

Is it weird being back in the states? It does feel a little like we have lived on another planet for the past couple of years. For at least our first year in Swazi, we would see a person that looked familiar and then we would remember that we live in Africa and most of the people we know live in the states! We have cherished the past two months as we have reconnected with friends and family that we have missed dearly.  Many of you have invited us into your homes or taken us out to eat and provided invaluable words of encouragement.  We will be forever grateful for your generosity!

How do you like Africa? We love Africa most days. We know without a doubt Swaziland is where God has called our family and we find peace in Him. He has allowed us to fit right into the ministry and we now feel we are a small part of a big picture. The people of Swaziland are very friendly and inviting. We have enjoyed especially getting to know the local young men and women that are on staff with Adventures in Missions.

What is it like in Swaziland? We rent a three bedroom house in a safe community with running water and electricity. The coldest the weather gets in the winter is about 45 degrees and we never see a frost. The seasons are opposite of the states, so it is cool during your summer months of June, July and August.  It is HOT at Christmas time, which does not seem normal to us.  Some of the people we have met have incredible heart-breaking stories and through God’s grace He has walked with them through many hardships.  We truly believe God is alive and well in Swaziland and He will continue to pursue His children.

What is the coolest thing you have done while in Africa? Game reserves are pretty cool. The closest game reserve, Hlane, is only one hour away from where we live. To see giraffes, elephants, rhinos and hippos all in their natural environment is awesome. We may never go to the zoo again!

What will the boys do about college? This is a tough one. We have NO idea. We would love to know the college "plan", but God has not sent us the memo yet. We have looked at a few college campuses while we have been in the states, so the boys have some idea of what college life looks like. Many times in life, we do not know what the future holds and that is where faith comes in.

Were you able to raise the support needed for the next two years? Sweets for Swazi was successful which will allow us to offset some of our living expenses. God has provided several people and possibly a church to financially partner with us on a monthly basis. If you would like to support us, please click “support me” in the left-hand column of this website. We are still not at 100%, but we have faith that God will continue to take care of us as He always has!!!

These are just a few of our most frequently asked questions. If you have any questions for us, please feel free to comment and we will do our best to answer.

Please keep our family in your prayers as we strive to reach our potential in God’s plan for our lives.

Thank you to all who follow our journey and support our ministry. It takes a team and we are excited to see what God has in store next for us! We would like to say a special thanks to those who supported Sweets for Swazi. We had a blast!
