Here is a glimpse at what God is doing at one of our care points…
Kay is the chairperson at the care point. Her name is not really Kay, but I cannot pronounce her name and I definitely cannot spell itJ So, we will just call her Kay. Kay had prayed for five years. Many times over this period, she thought to herself, “Does God hear my prayers?” She was thankful that several years ago, a care point was established in her community. This was simply a piece of land that was a gathering place for the kids in the local area. Her neighbors and herself volunteered weekly at the care point to cook and feed the kids.
The main challenge at the care point: No water!
Kay had prayed over and over again, for God to provide water. She knew it was out of her control, but she continued to have faith and ask God…somehow…some way…that He would provide a source of clean water.
Luke 17:6 “…If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”
Over the years, the few women that volunteered had found water wherever they could, until that source dried up. When we visited in June, they were walking ½ mile from the care point to a nearby creek to fetch water in five gallon buckets several times each week. They would carry the buckets on their heads back to the care point. Many days it was hot…heavy…burdensome…but it had to be done. This water was vital to the care point. It provided water for cooking the rice, cleaning the pots, rinsing hands and dishes. It also provided a sip of water for the 200 children that visited the care point on a daily basis.
A few months ago, the woman saw a stranger at the care point. He had two bent wires in each hand. As he walked, he was looking at the ground. As she watched his every move, all of a sudden the wires crossed. He stopped. He began to dig where he was standing. Then he began to drill deeper and deeper. After some time, something miraculous happened. She had never seen anything like this before…
WATER ERUPTED OUT OF THE GROUND!
Kay could not contain herself. She started to yell and scream. The other ladies began to dance around. They immediately realized, life as they knew it was about to change!
Members in the community began to ask how they could help. Some members came to help dig for the pipes. Over the next few weeks, the well shaft was completed, pipes and solar pump were installed, tanks were mounted and lines were run for a tap.
Kay could hardly believe it. For five years, she had prayed for water…clean water…water close to the care point. Now, the tap was placed a few inches from the cooking structure.
The day after this project was completed, Greg and I went for a visit. The smiles that covered the women’s faces said it all. Kay simply stated, “Sometimes, I felt that God did not hear my prayers for water, but He did! God is with us!”
God has provided generous people, who donated money toward this project. Over the past five years, AIM/CHC has provided food six days a week for this community. Unfortunately, this care point does not have a church to partner with them.
Please help me pray that God will bring a church along side this care point. I believe water is just the beginning of what God has for this community. God answers prayers!
This is just one of the many ways, God is working in Swaziland. Lives are being changed and communities are being transformed in the name of Jesus. We are honored to see missions in action. Thank you to all who support, pray and follow our journey. If you have been praying for something for a long time, just hang in there. Things happen when people pray! You could be the “Kay” in your community.
God is always good to answer a believer’s prayers. Thank you for what you are doing to help those people. God bless and protect you.
Wow! We are so glad to be partnering with you is this awesome adventure.
So awesome to see how God answers prayers of the faithful. It just goes to show that we may not get the answer right away, but He will provide. Thank you for following the call to minister to the people of Swaziland. Praying for your family.
Thank you all for the encouraging words.
