One year ago today, we moved to Swaziland, Africa.
In some ways, time has gone by so fast. However, sometimes it feels like we have had a previous life and now live on another planet! There have been more changes this year than any other time in our lives. Jobs…school…ministry…culture…new home…new life! Swaziland is a beautiful country and we have enjoyed exploring its splendor.
Throughout the year, we have each asked ourselves, “where do I fit into this ministry?”. Even though we have not completely figured out all of our roles, we are so thankful for God’s faithfulness and the fact that He goes before us as we walk together through this journey.
We wanted to share a little about what we have been doing…
Greg is running point on the medical side of AIM’s ministry. As of April 1st, AIM has hired a local Swazi nurse. She has been in the medical field for over thirty years and she is a huge asset. Greg and the nurse make a great team. Greg is also part of the newly established leadership team and is the facilitator for five of the twenty-four Manzini care points.
Michelle is assisting with ministry finances. Some of her duties include payroll, collecting receipts and reconciling expenses at the end of each month. She is enjoying this position and loves the flexible schedule while home schooling.
Landon and Lane have completed their first year of high school with flying colors! Home school has been a huge change from the typical public school classrooms, but they have adapted incredibly well. Bella, our new puppy, has enjoyed learning too!
The boys have enjoyed designing cards, painting rocks and making necklaces with three other missionary children, the McAdams’ girls. Swazi Rocks sell their products to visiting teams and all proceeds go toward medical expenses at the care points. Please look them up at facebook.com/swazirocks.
As a family, we have hosted or helped host several teams throughout the year. Depending on the team, “fun day” at the care point is usually held on Saturdays. Fun day includes a special meal for all the children and cooks at the care point. This past Saturday, Greg and Lane had the opportunity to assist cooking 265 pounds of sausage for the special meal.
We are so humbled to be a part of what God is doing in Swaziland. It blesses our hearts, as we see God not only using us, but also the boys. Thank you to each member of our support team. We love you and miss you! We would not be here without you!
One thing that has NOT changed is Jesus.
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
No matter what you face today, remember God is with you. Thank you, Lord, that even though we have experienced lots of changes in the past year, you remain the same!
Greg, Michelle, Landon and Lane
