Difficult Season

It was great to connect with many of you during our last furlough. It makes a huge difference when we have the privilege to sit and talk face to face. Many conversations were encouraging to us as we reconnected as friends and to those friends, we are so thankful. We are missing a lot by being on the other side of the world, so it was so good for us to feel a part again.

This trip home was very difficult for us as we spent three months preparing to leave our kids and return back to the mission field. It became an extended time of saying goodbyes. We look back now and reference those three months as ripping off a band-aid very slowly. We knew that it was not going to be easy, but we have trusted God through this process and He has been very gracious to us. We are encouraged that Lane and Landon are thriving in the new chapters of their lives. Landon has loved his time in Thailand and will be traveling by bus to Malaysia this week. Lane just finished mid terms and will be registering for the spring term mid November.

It is hard to believe we have been back home a little over a month. This has definitely been our toughest month in Swaziland since we arrive June 1st, 2014. We have experienced sadness from coming home to an empty house, betrayed by local staff members that we considered friends and just this last week one of our shepherds serving at a local care point passed away unexpectedly. This has been a difficult season of loss and we are empty. Please be in prayer for our local staff here as they deal with the feelings of loss and betrayal, as well as the missionaries serving here that we know how to counsel and continue to pour into our staff and the ministry. Please pray for the kids at the care point. They are having a difficult time with the loss of their leader and friend.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 “As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.”

There are a lot of things we don’t understand right now, but we choose to trust Him through this time. Thank you to all who follow our journey and we cherish your partnership!
